How brands get creator consent for AI avatar ads

To get a creator’s consent for AI avatar ads, get a written license the creator signs for that one campaign. It should name the brand, product, assets, channels, territory and dates. On ICONS the creator signs the consent personally for each campaign and approves the script and the final file. Paid ads, exclusivity and longer terms are separate rights, and nothing is charged until everyone signs.

Five steps on ICONS

  1. Find a verified adult creator and send a free request with your brand, product, assets and use.
  2. Get a quote at the creator’s own rates, with the license, production and posts as separate lines. Add paid ads, exclusivity or a longer term as separate rights.
  3. Sign. The creator signs the likeness consent personally for this campaign.
  4. Approve. The creator approves the script, then the final file.
  5. Pay through Stripe and run the content within the signed terms.

What the brand receives

  • A consent signed by the creator for this campaign.
  • The approved final files.
  • A record of the rights: brand and product, assets, channels, territory and dates.

Disclosure

Ads and posts that show a paid relationship or AI-made content need the right labels. Follow each platform’s rules and the FTC’s guidance on disclosure.

When a stock avatar is enough

If your ad does not need a specific, recognisable person, a stock avatar from an AI avatar tool is faster and usually cheaper. ICONS is for when you want a named creator, with their consent and approval written down.

Where ICONS is not the right fit

  • Campaigns outside the US: ICONS is an invite-led US pilot.
  • A reusable avatar or AI model of the creator: that needs separate written consent and is never the default.
  • Perpetual use: there is no perpetual license by default.

Questions

Is consent from an avatar tool the same as creator consent?

No. A stock avatar’s consent is set by the tool’s terms with its actors. A creator license on ICONS is signed by the person you chose, for your one campaign.

Can we run the content as paid ads?

Yes, if the license names paid ads. Paid ads are a separate right and are never included by default.

Can we train an AI model on the creator?

Not without separate written consent. There is no general AI model training and no reusable likeness or voice model by default.

How long can we use the content?

For the term in the license. The default is 30 days from final delivery, and longer terms are a separate right.

When do we pay?

Requests are free. Nothing is charged until everyone signs, and brands pay through Stripe.
